legacy of the Holocaust and
commemorate the 36th an-
niversary of liberation from
the Nazi concentration
camps; serve notice to the
entire world that the
Holocaust must never be
forgotten, never be re-
peated; affirm the con-
tinuity and survival of the -
Jewish people as a whole
and the state of Israel as
their focal point: on a
worldwide scale, bear per-
sonal witness to the
Holocaust experience; bring
together the second genera-
tion, sons and daughters of
Holocaust survivors;
transmit a testament from
all the survivors to future
generations; and, above all,
this gathering will be an
opportunity for the sur-
vivors from all over the
world — once in their
lifetime — to be with each
other, to celebrate their
survival, share achieve-
ments of the present, and
aspirations for the future.

Some events during the
gathering include: an in-
augural mass meeting
and memorial service on
the grounds of Yad Vas-
hem in Jerusalem; a
march of survivors from
the Knesset through the
streets of Jerusalem to
the Western Wall; special
events at the kibutzim es-
tablished by Holocaust
survivors; construction
of a monument made of
rocks supplied by indi-
vidual delegates to the
world gathering who will
bring them from their re-
spective communities.
Every survivor is re-
quested to bring along a re-
cording of his or her experi-
ences on a tape cassette, or
written memoir for the
permanent archives at Yad
Vashem, as well as personal
Holocaust memorabilia for
preservation. There also
will be a ceremony of sign-
ing the collective legacy of
survivors for the future
generations and special
programs for the second-and
third generations.
For details regarding this
trip, call 424-8118.
