The group of fifth to ninth graders have pui'chased stocks in two firms, one an oil producer and one a gold producer. Both have ad- vanced in price, and divi- dends are being distributed to the youthful investors, according to Geraldine i lLussbaum, principal of neral studies at the academy. TO TH E She said the students are building up a portfolio of stocks which help them learn mathematics and fos- ter habits of saving. She said the stock buying pro- gram was an extension of mathematics and social studies at the day school. `No Pattern to Anti-Semitism' GREAT NECK, N.Y. (JTA) — The recent out- burst of anti-Semitic van- dalism and violence on Long Island shows no organized pattern and armed vig- ilante patrols to protect Jewish individuals and property are not warranted, according to Edward Laba- ton, president of the - Ameri- can Jewish Committee's Long Island chapter. - The Jewish Defense League recently proposed to send such a patrol for that purpose. Jerusalem Prize to British Author NEW YORK — The Jerusalem Prize for 1981 has been awarded to Graham Greene, the British novelist. The award, given every two years, honors authors whoese works celeb- rate "the freedom of the in- dividual in society." Greene, whose major works include "The Power and the Glory," "The Human Factor" and "The Quiet American," will visit Jerusalem in April to re- ceive the prize from Mayor Teddy Kollek.
