U.S.-Israel 'Crisis' Is Debated

JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
In a recent interview on Kol
Yisrael, Prime Minister
Menahem Begin said the
pull-out of 13 foreign em-
bassies from Jerusalem will
not weaken Israel's political
position. He denied that
there was a crisis in Israel
relations with the U.S.
Former Foreign Minister
Moshe Dayan, however,
told Israeli TV that there
was a crisis which could
lead to a reduction in U.S.

TEL AVIV (ZINS) —
Haaretz correspondent Zeev
Schiff reports that the
Palestine Liberation
Organization plans to move
thousands of Palestinians
into Jerusalem in the wake
of any West Bank — Gaza
autonomy plan, regardless
of the status of Jerusalem.
He said the PLO plans to
emulate Hong Kong by
building hundreds of high-
rise apartment buildings
with Saudi Arabian Capital.

Message to PLO

NEW YORK (ZINS) —
Pope John Paul II and
Soviet leader Leonid
Brezhnev sent messages to
the recent Palestine Libera-
tion Organization Central
Council meeting in Damas-
cus.
Brezhnev expressed sup-
port "for the PLO and the
Arab people's fight against
Israeli aggression."
The Pope's message was
reported by PLO chief Yasir
Arafat, who publicly
thanked the Pope for his ef-
forts "to establish a just and
lasting peace in, the Middle
East, conforming with 'reso-
lutions of the international
community."

No man can be called wise
unless he possesses three
qualities: never to scorn
one, less learned, who seeks
knowledge: never to envy
someone richer: and never
to accept a fee for his learn-
ing.
— Ibn Gabirol

aid to Israel if the country's
policies are in conflict with
those of the U.S.
Dayan said he did not see
any positive results from
any new tripartite summit
on Palestinian autonomy
and proposed instead that
Israel unilaterally with-
draw its troops from
Judaea, Samaria and Gaza.
He said the Palestinians
should be warned that if
terrorists are allowed into
the territories "the Israel
army will return within 30
minutes."
