It cites examples of such stars as George Hamilton, Linda Carter, Rod McKuen, Senator Thurmond, Bobby Riggs and author Judith Krantz doing just that. Dr. Passwater, a biochemist, c14ims that megavitamin therapy can not only add 15 years to a person's life, but also help prevent a shopping list from colds to cancer. He also says no one under 80 should get heart disease and if you have enough vitamins and no genetic defects, you can stop a cancer cell from ever forming. Dr. Passwater remains undaunted by the con- troversies over his theories. He says, "There is no way you can take vitamins and say gee, I'm not developing heart disease today." The doctor admits you won't know that until 20 years la- ter. You will notice your energy levels going up, your body chemistry will improve and you will feel better. The stars think he's right. I think he's right. I heartily agree with Dr. Passwater and I'm glad to see this kind of information coming out in print. Dr. Robert Atkins, a very well-known diet doc- tor, gives us some advice to guard ourselves against cancer. I'm going to pass it on to you because I think whatever we can do to pro- tect ourselves is certainly worthwhile. Dr. Atkins says to follow a healthy diet. This means a minimum of food additives and a minimum of refined carbohydrates. Sugar is the number one dietary excess and subjects the body to stresses which weaken the immune system. Take three or four grams of Vitamin C per day. Be sure to get enough B Vitamin. Take 50-150 mcg. of the trace mineral Selenium and get plenty of Vitamin A. Again, as I always tell you, take good care of yourself— you are the most important person there is. Would you like to know a vitamin diet to help keep you young? I think we are all interested in that and Dr. Abram Hof- fer says proper nutrition and vitamin supplements can do wonders to pre- vent senility. First on his list is to avoid junk food. That means eliminating our processed food that has sugar, artifi- cial coloring or preservatives added to it. Instead, eat whole foods I ike fresh fruits, vegetables and grains and eat them raw whenever you can. Then, he suggested we acid niacin, which is Vitamin B3, Vita- min C, Vitamin B6, zinc and • • • • • • • • • NEW YORK STEAK ON A SIZZLING PLATTER A Comedy starring Jimmy Launce Pert ormaces: Wednesday Matinee Friday & Saturday Group Rates & Performances Available 643-8865 servations Lower Level Somerset Mall 95 RED SNAPPER COMPLETE DINNER INCLUDES: SOUP, SALAD, VEGETABLE OR POTATO 40 OTHER ENTREE ITEMS ALSO AVAILABLE Live Entertainment & Dancing Monday thru Saturday 353-5110 23055 TELEGRAPH AT 9 MILE RD. • • • • • • • • • • ••• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • COMPLETE DINNER • • • • • • GRADE AAA • • • • • • NEW YORK SIRLOIN • • • • STEAK • • • • • • 595 • • $ • • • • • • OFFER GOOD JAN. 2 THRU JAN. 8 • • INCLUDES SOUP OF THE DAY POTATO STREUDEL HAAGEN-DAZS ICE CREAM COFFEE OR HOT TEA • • • • ORDER YOUR • • • • • HOLIDAY TRAY NOW • • • • SEE WHY WE ARE NO. 1 IN METROPOLITAN DETROIT • • •I • • chapter two i r BROILED °FLORIDA 41 PROductions, Inc. presents cicd,T 0w o, Chef's Specials DINER THEATRE • • Alfredo Jimmy Launce• A Served Mon. thru Sat. I keep reading more and more about the wonders of natural foods and vitamins and for me, I think it's the only way to go. Believe it or not, I went in to get hypnotized recently and found it an incredibly healthy experience. I some- times have to do public speaking or TV appear- ances for Healthy Jones and I'm very shy and find it dif- ficult to do these things without getting really up tight. I believe that stress of any kind is harmful and unhealthy and I thought this might be a way to help eliminate this particular stress factor for me. I went to see James Hoke who heads the Self Psyche Clinic in South- field. He has been on the John Kelly Show on WXYZ-TV_ several times so you might be familiar with him. He does a lot of work in the field of hyp- nosis. It was so relaxing and I must say, I did look forward to a TV taping on Dec. 12. That in itself was quite an accomplishment as I nor- mally start getting scared a week before. Hooray for Jeremy Ig- gers!
