The plan calls for the building of a two-way bridge to help the Jewish community appreciate the background and culture of Soviet Jews and to help Soviet Jews understand the American Jewish commu- nity; using Bnai Brith's concept of "mitzvot" to help Soviet immigrants learn about public, private and not-for-profit sectors of American life; establishing the principle of person-to- person, family-to-family contact; and developing a training program for volun- teers in cooperation with other Jewish service agen- cies, which would be sensi- tive to the needs of immig- rants.
