THE fl WHEN DOWNTOWN VISIT DETROIT'S NEWEST, MOST FASHIONABLE The Best of Everything scribe our recent experience at one of Detroit's most enchanting new discoveries . .. The Opera House res- taurant . . . on E. Warren, five blocks east of Chal- mers. There's nothing like it in the Metropolitan area .. . and undoubtedly something that will be of much wel- come to a lot of people. The evening we were there, a Saturday night, a I fine musical string quartet called Musique Unique .. . two gals and two fellows .. . viola, cello and two violins . . . played extremely de- lightful light classical melodies as some of the most delectable food Was brought to us by courteous, efficient waiter Rick Pauline . . . Strolling about singing opera was Suzanne Wernette . . . whose tonal qualities enhanced a joyous evening. The Opera House res- taurant is a very colorful, cozy and pleasant place . .. It seats about 96 .. . with decor of dark woods, red drapes, red table cloths and red cloth napkins, brick and mir- rored walls, indirect lighting onto a stucco ceiling, delicately-lighted chandeliers, overhang ceiling lights, many photographs of opera stars, New York Met- ropolitan Opera posters telling of appearing shows ... and lovely fresh flowers on each ta- ble. What a delightful way to have dinner? . . . So many will happily greet this "new" find . . . open just over a year . . . owned by Norma Robb, also its chef, and her son, Ron Robb, general manager, whose experience `as a bartender was mainly on the northwest . . . Res- taurant Duglass, LaRotis- serie and db's at Hyatt Re- gency and Bijou. Entertainment at The Opera House restaurant is Wednesday through Sun- day . . . with live singing and background opera music . . . On Friday and Saturday, the regular ap- pearances are also by Janet Rhoem, flutist, and Cory Trager, classical guitarist. The dinner amidst such delightful music from "Old Man River" to "Pagliacci" makes for an interesting evening of much charm .. . and Norma's cuisine is in perfect tune with the opera theme . . . complementing each for both the ears and palate. Norma's only experi- ence as a cook is bringing up seven children ... as if that isn't enough ... Bet her seven kids never had meals that include Pate '"Renatta Scotto" (chic- ken livers), Shrimp Fig- aro, Cucumber Bisque, absolutely elegant chil- led soup with a hint of dill, Tempura (shrimp mixed with mushrooms, zucchini, eggplant and VINCENZO'S Malian-American Cuisine Hart Plaza 963-3131 18211 JOHN R Bet. 6 7 Mile Rd.. 869-5674 on • • • • II • • • • • • • • • Downtown Detroit •• ••• • • • • • • • COMPLETE DINNER • • a BROILED • • • • WHITE FISH • • • • • - • • • • • INCLUDES CHOPPED OVER APP.
