The telephone blitz, to be held in conjunction with communities throughout the United States, will reach some 12,000 potential local contributors to the 1981 Campaign. In preparation for the event, leaders are planning Campaign - Federation Sabbath Jan. 9-10. During this weekend preceding Super Sunday, the work of Federation will be em- phasized through lectures in synagogues and educa- tional institutions. Sol Cicurel is heading the drive with co- chairman Janice Schwartz. Cicurel has re- cently announced the appointment of two addi- tional committee chair- men, Shelby Tauber, re- source aides; and Harriet Dunsky, who, along with Harriet Colman, will coordinate the adminis- trative and clerical team. Also playing key roles are more than 300 Campaign volunteer solicitors who are working with the commit- tee in the telephone appeal. Mrs. Tauber, president of the Jewish Welfare Federa- tion Women's Division, was a recipient of the 1974 Syl- via Simon Greenberg Award. A member of Feder- ation's Board of Governors, she also serves on its Com- munity Services budgeting and planning division. She has served as Women's Di- vision vice president, Cam- paign chairman and execu- tive committee member. Mrs. Dunsky, past chair- man of the Women's Di- vision Phonogift campaign, has been active in other Women's Division functions and served on the boards of Fresh Air Society, Sinai Hospital Women's Guild and United Foundation Heart of Gold. She is vice president of Adat Shalom Sisterhood and past chair- man of membership for the synagogue. Lilian Bernstein, who is retiring after 14 years as executive director of the Junior Division of the Jewish Welfare Federation, was honored at a party Dec. 6. African Leader Honored in NY NEW YORK — Helen Suzman, . a member of the South African Parliament and an outspoken foe of her country's apartheid policies, received the Mayor's Medallion of Heroism in a ceremony last week at City Hall in New York. Mrs. Suzman, on a month-long lecture tour of the U.S., said recent moves to desegregate hotels, res- taurants and other facilities in South Africa were a step in the right direction, but not sufficiently far reach- ing.
