NEW YORK (JTA) —
Jewish communities are
concerned with growing
anti-Semitism in Latin
America and Europe, but
"the silent Jew of Babi Yar
and Kristallnacht is no
more," Leon Dulzin, chair-
man of the Jewish Agency
and World Zionist Organ-
ization Executives, said
here.
Dulzin, who is in New
York for a series of meetings
with the top echelon leader-
ship of the United Jewish
Appeal, came here directly
from an international meet-
ing in London with some 90
of the foremost Jewish lead-
ers from 13 countries.
He said that the meeting
in London "displayed a
Jewry that is courageous,
determined, able and con-
cerned with anti-Semitism
and ready to fight back.
While in the United
States the Zionist lead-
er will participate in
joint meetings of the
Jewish Federation and
the UJA in New York; of
the UJA in Cleveland,
Cincinnati, Los Angeles;
and at a regional confer-
ence in Orlando, Fla. In
New York he will also
meet with the WZO-
American Section to dis-
cuss the WZO board of
governors meeting that
will convene in Israel
next February.
expressed
Dulzin
gratification- with the pro-
gress of this year's national
UJA campaign.
Dulzin said that one of the
'problems he will discuss
with American Jewish
community' leaders is "the
catastrophic fall in Soviet
Jewish emigration."
Dulzin also said that Is-
rael "cannot afford" to
go into a recession in
order to bring down in-
flatioft.
A recession, he told
nearly 200 Zionist Organ-
ization of America leaders
attending the organiza-
tion's national executive
committee meeting, "would
bring about a large number
of unemployed, and while it
would help bring down in-
flation it would be at the ex-
pense of new immigrants
and aliya."

Terrorists Foiled
at the Border
JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Israeli forces foiled a ter-
rorist attempt to infiltrate
across the Lebanese border
Sunday night. One terrorist
was killed and an Israeli
soldier was wounded in a
brief exhange of fire near
the border settlement of
Zarit in western Galilee.
According to Israeli offi-
cials, the infiltrators
reached the border through
territory controlled by a
Dutch battalion of the
United Nations Interim
Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
However, the same force
disarmed and turned back
three other terrorist groups
making for the Israeli bor-
der at about the same time.
They were ousted from the
UNIFIL zone.

Meanwhile,
Lebanese villagers were kil-
led by a land mine in the
area controlled by Maj.
Saad Haddad's Christian
forces. The latter retaliated
by shelling Palestine Liber-
ation Organization stron-
gholds in the coastal towns
of Sidon and Tyre.
