Jacob and Ida Nosan-
chuk, who this Monday will
celebrate her 90th birthday
and on Tuesday, their 73rd
wedding anniversary, have
made a contribution to the
reclamation of one acre of
land in Moshav Dishon, Is-
rael, under the auspices of
the Jewish National Fund.
Previously the couple
planted a forest of 10,000
trees and a one-acre site in
the Galilee.
Revitalization of the
Moshav Dishon site is the
target of the Women of
JNF's current fund-raising
campaign. Mrs. Nosanchuk
is a life member.
Mrs. Nosanchuk is a
life member of the
Women's Division of
Bar-Ilan University;
Hadassah; Women of
Shaare Zedek Hospital in
Jerusalem; Mizrachi
Women; Women's Auxil-
iary, Jewish Home for the
Aged; and of the Ladies
Auxiliary, Detroit House
of Shelter. During World
War II, she helped at the
USO providing as many
as 1,200 sandwiches at a
time.
Nosanchuk is a member
of Hadassah Associates, the
men's counterpart. He is a
life member of Zager-Stone
Lodge of Bnai Brith. He
helped build and renovate
six Bnai Jacob Houses of
Worship, as the Detroit
Jewish community kept on
moving northwestward.
Thus far, the Nosanchuks
have planted four groves in
Israel, including one grove
honoring the 35th wedding
anniversity of their son and
daughter-inAaw, Dr. and
Mrs. Joseph (Betty) Nosan-
chuk, planted in 1976. This
was later expanded to a for-
est.
They have dedicated a
room in Shaare Zedek
Hospital, Jerusalem in
memory of their .daugh-
ter, Mrs. Rose Raskin.
They have established
the Raskin Free Loan
Fund. They have
endowed a room in the
United Old Age Home in
Jerusalem and a dormit-
ory room and classroom
in Bar-Ilan University..

Eric Blumenthal, a senior
at Southfield High School,
is the winner of the Century
III Leaders competition at
his high school and will
compete in the state contest.
The contest is sponsored by
the National Association of
Secondary School Princi-
pals and is funded by the
Shell Oil Co.
