Friday, December 12, 1980 31 THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Music Fund Will Benefit Israel Danny Raskin's LISTENING POST WHEN NATE KAUF- MAN was appointed a juvenile judge years back, there was little doubt that he would become a promi- nent personality in his field . . . But hardly many people could have visualized Nate as a television star .. . which he became with his Juvenile Court that beamed into homes and told so many parents the rights and ,Tongs about bringing up children . . . plus telling the kids themselves rights and wrongs in the stages of growing up . . . And many attorneys will readily attest that Nate's television show was a major part of their learning.. Nate today is a state Court of Appeals judge .. . as he and wife Bea celebrate their 50th wedding an- niversary with an elaborate kidush . . . this Saturday .. . at Cong. Beth Abraham Hillel Moses in We-st Bloom- field . . . following Sabbath services. CONGRATS ... to Nathan Metz . . . on his 85th birthday. SEVEN YEARS AGO, Todd Lash, son of Nancy and Harvey Lash, was a camper at Camp Tanuga .. . George Glassman was his counselor . . . Harvey and Nancy got paid back again recently by George . . . this time with an RCA color television set and Selecto- Vision . . . won by Harvey among the thousands of names drawn during Good Olds Days Sweepstakes at Glassman Olds on Tele- graph. CONGRATS . . to Wendy (Robins) and Terry Brown . . . on their first wedding anniversary. RECENT NORTHERN HIGH '35, '36, '37 reunion turned out to be more than just a get-together . . . A wonderful charity also benefited along with the evening of reminiscing about happy days. After all expenses had been paid, $268 was left over . . . and Children's Leukemia Foundation of Michigan received a check in that amount through Yetta Pomerantz (organizer and originator of the reu- nion). Those who attended will be mighty happy to learn of the committee's decision, I :now . . . especially since CLF is pledged to continue the same fine quality of service with limited funds regardless of present eco- nomic times. Sylvia Brown, excellent executive director of Chil- dren's Leukemia Founda- tion of Michigan, was one of the Northern High grads during those years. CONGRATS . . . to Molly and Murray Grushoff of L & T Flowers . . . on their 35th wedding anniversary. THERE'S NOTHING unique about giving a gift certificate for the holidays . . . In fact, it's so old nobody can recall whoever started the popular idea. But there is something new under the sun by Er- nest Drucker, owner of Executive Custom Shirtmakers in Birming- ham . . . an original custom-made his and hers formal tuxedo wing-tip shirt ... Whoever gets a gift certificate to. Ernie's place and picks out this combo will really have an eye- catcher . Ernest has got- ten big on custom-made shirts for women as well as men. CONGRATS . . . to Ar- lene Metz (Shel) on her birthday. THE WAY PEOPLE are learning about Charlie Robinson taking over the Shell station on Nine Mile at Greenfield in Oak Park, the gendarmes there may need a special force just to take care of traffic for him and wife Bernice. Charlie's move comes after 15 years on W. Eight Mile and Mark Twain, and five years before that across from Darbys on Seven Mile and Wyoming. Bernice got some funny looks during their first days there when she drove up to the self-service pump and asked one of the attendants who didn't know her yet to help in putting gas in the car's tank. It's nice to have service station owners like Charlie Robinson around . . . hon- est, dependable and loyal to his customers. .DETROIT CLUB OF North Miami Beach has re- sumed its social activities with Leo Magid president . . . Rabbi Morton Rosenthal, of the ADL's Latin Affairs Department, said that days after the promised police crackdown, the October issue of "Papeles," pub- lished 'by the Aryan Nationalist Integral Party (Partido Ario Nacionalista Integral), was still avail- able on newstands in downtown Buenos Aires. In the October issue, above the photos of Hitler and Mussolini standing side-by-side on a reviewing stand, is the inscription: "Buenos Aires is the capital of the Aryan world."
