Leonard Weiner, Gilbert DeRoy Foundations, an- Michel and Arthur D. nounce the funding of a new Rodecker, trustees of the workshop to be developed by the Orchards Children's Services of the Greater De- troit Section, National Council of Jewish Women. The workshop will pro- vide training in effective parenting to parents of emo- tionally troubled children. Gerald Levin, Orchards' executive director, has ap- pointed Marlene Karp of the Orchards out-patient staff to coordinate the program. Dr. Elinor Waters, director of the Continuum Center, Oakland University, will conduct training sessions for the staff. Barbara Stone is the NCJW chairman of the Orchards Service. The workshop is geared to providing a structured environment where parents can find positive support through interaction with others. They will be given skills to make family life more effective and enjoyable. Since its.-inception in 1962, the Orchards has pro- vided a wide range of serv- ices to troubled youngsters and their families. The agency provides residential treatment, clinical camping and out-patient programs. Established by the Greater Detroit Section, NCJW, the Orchards is licensed by the state of Michigan as a child-welfare agency.
