Couple's Book on Loving a Worthwhile Family Guide

Dorothy K. Kripke and
her husband, Rabbi Myer S.
Kripke, have just published
a new book on loving,
geared for children, but use-
ful as a guide for the whole
family.
Entitled, "Let's Talk
About Loving," the Ktav-
published paperback is
written in simple English so
that a child can understand.
Among the topics covered
by the book are: Loving God,
loving oneself, loving par-
ents and children, loving
orothers and sisters, loving
the family, falling in love,
sex and more.
To cover all bases, the
couple has included
chapters on divorce,
adoption and familial
discord.
From the chapter on
"How We Recognize Love,"
the Kripkes write:
"When we are loved, we

feel safe and protected. We
feel comfortable with those
who love us. We can be our-
selves, with no pretending.
We feel love in a hug, a kiss,
an arm about our shoulders.
We know it in a squeeze, a
touch, a loving look — even
in a wink. Being loved
makes us feel happy with
ourselves, and glad to be
alive. It makes us want to
share our joys and pleas-
ures. It makes us able to
share out disappointments
and sorrows. Then, in sad
times we feel a little corn-
forted. In happy times our
joy seems to sparkle all the
more."
In the chapter, "Not Al-
ways — Divorce," the
couple writes:
"When parents are di-
vorced, they may be
angry with each other or
they may still be friends.
In both cases, the par-

ents, each of them, love
the children very much.
They still take care of
their children. The di-
vorce is not the children's
fault; the parents have
just stopped loving each
other as they once did.
But they have not stop-
ped loving their chil-
dren."

Peres Backers
Claim Victory
in Labor Voting

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Sup-
porters of Labor Party
Chairman Shimon Peres
claimed last week that he
scored a landslide victory in
the Labor Party elections
and suggested that his ri-
val, former Premier Yit-
zhak Rabin concede.
Rabin supporters on the
other hand, insisted that
the vote for delegates to
next month's party conven-
tion was still too close to
call.
Peres is believed to have
done extremely well in the
large cities. Rabin is be-
lieved to have scored over-
whelmingly in the kibut-
zim. While Peres supporters
claimed their man polled
nearly 70 percent of the
votes, Rabin backers in-
sisted their rival received
only 45 percent to Rabin's
40 and that the 15 percent
undecided could carry the
convention for the former
Prime Minister.
Both sides agreed that the
turnout was heavy. Nearly
60 percent of the 260,000
eligible voters cast ballots.

Our fathers did not cut
their beards
Did not choose smoothness
All their wildness
In their hair
Their hands tamed
Brains trained
Eyes downcast
Only the beard
Last defiant flag
Blothing in the breeze
Saying,
"I am my own man!"
