Festivities begin at 1:30
p.m. with a variety of activ i-
ties for children of all ages.
This will include a pre-
school Hanuka party with
games and prizes, a parent-
toddler party where potato
latkes will be made, a
dreidel and menora decorat-
ing party, candlemaking
and a Maccabean gym.
At 3:30 p.m., the Ap-
prentice Dance Group of
the Jewish Community
Center, directed by Har-
riet Berg, will light up the
stage with The Nut-
cracker's Sweets from Is-
rael."
The second half of the af-
ternoon is being sponsored
by the Lubavitch Women's
Organization, in associa-
tion with the JCC. At 4:30,
they will begin by kindling
the lights on a giant menora
outside the building. Im-
mediately following will be
a monkey and dog show
starring Gloria Peebles and
the Busy Bees, formerly
with the Ringling Bros. Cir-
c,us. Refreshments will be
available.
At 6 p.m., a musical inter-
lude will be provided by Ab-
raham Ben-Zeev and the Is-
raeli Ensemble. Admission
is free.
The Center will host its
third annual invitational
art show Sunday through
Dec. 14 at the main build-
ing.
Beginning. Monday, a
new 10-week archery
program will be offered
at the main Jewish Cen-
ter. Classes will be taught
by Jim Smith. This class
is open to the public.
There is a fee.
The Center will offer its
second in a series of tennis
tournaments — open to the
public — at the main build-
ing.
Two simultaneous tour-
naments will be offered:
Singles 18 and under and
singles 18-35. Tournaments
begin Sunday and continue
Wednesday and Dec. 14 and
AAJE Develops
Jewish Agenda
for U.S. Military
NEW YORK (JTA) —
The American Association
for Jewish Education
(AAJE) has been commis-
sioned by the U.S. govern-
ment to develop a unified
Jewish studies curriculum
for Jewish military person-
nel and their dependents, it
was announced here.
The first phase of the
project, a 328-page anno-
tated bibliography covering
15 areas of Jewish study,
has been completed by the
AAJE and is scheduled for
publication this winter.
