NEW YORK — The coun-
try of Haiti has stood by Is-
rael and the Jewish people
time and again, 'according
Israel's ambassador to the
world's oldest black repub-
lic.
In a recent interview,
Ambassador Zvi Loker
noted that Haiti voted for
Israel in the United Na-
tions' partition vote of 1947,
enabling Israel to become a
nation, and voted against
the recent Arab-sponsored
UN resolution equating
Zionism and racism. :
Loker said the Haitians
feel warmly towards Israel
"for they say we were brave
in war against numerous
odds and they have a sym-
pathetic interest in us."
Israel's agricultural
pioneering, which is well
known in Haiti, is one rea-
son for that loyalty. For
many years Israeli agricul-
tural experts have been
coming to assist this under-
developed country. Israeli
technicians have helped
Haiti with terracing and
other improvements in ag-
ricultural methods.
According to Israeli ag-
ronomist Albert Sadeh, in
charge of Israeli assistance
to the Caribbean from 1975
to 1978, improvements have
included the introduction of
better seeds and the use of
inexpensive fertilizers,
enabling the Haitians to
raise greater varieties of
crops.

resurgence of Nazism in
Europe was the main sub-
ject of a symposium or-
ganized by the Jewish
Community Center of Brus-
sels last week.

racism as it was 40 years
ago. Gideon Hausner,
president of Yad Vashem in

peat this accusation con-
stantly.

tober 1973. In a relatively
short time, this technique
proved its value and now
many of the world's large oil
companies use it since in
many cases the results ob-
tained by it are substan-
tially better than those ob-
tained by previous methods.
