Israel Withdraws UN Draft on De-Nuclearization of M.EG.-4

DIAMOND BAKERY

UNITED NATIONS
(JTA) — Israel, in a surprise
move, withdrew a draft
resolution it had introduced
earlier for the "de-
nuclearization of the Middle
East," blaming lack of re-
sponse from the Arab coun-
tries.
Announcing the move in
the General Assembly's
Political and Security
Committee (First Commit-
tee), Ambassador Arie
Eilan of Israel's UN Mis-
sion, siad Israel withdrew

its draft resolution "with
great regret" and warned
that "those who have re-
jected Israel's offer in this
committee must bear a very
heavy responsibility in the
eyes of mankind."
Eilan cited the "adamant
refusal on the part of so
many Arab states to re-
spond to Israel's calls for
de-nuclearization of the
Middle East" as the reason
for Israel's decision to with-
draw its draft resolution.

In "Cabal" (Dell Books),
author Norman Garbo
questions whether the
United States, in order to
insure its Arab oil supplies,
would secretly encourage
the destruction of Israel by
her enemies.
In the novel, Garbo postu-
lates that there is a high-
level network of indepen-
dent Israeli agents, fi-
nanced by wealthy Ameri-
can Jews, called "Chai." The
agents are dedicated to save
Israel from a lethal plot
hatched in the White House
Oval Office by Arab leaders,
the State Department, the
oil consortiums and the
President.
Garbo draws on recent
history to show how such
a counter-intelligence
group might have led to
the events of the Six-Day
War and how it allowed
the Israelis to strike back
effectively.
Garbo, the author of sev-
eral books including "The
