`Dealings With

With Reagan'

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
King Hussein of Jordan said
he believes the change of
administration in Washing-

opportunity" for the U.S. to
adopt a new approach in its
dealings with the Arab

region and start a new page
in its dealings with the
Arab world."
He said he would agree to
a federation with a Palesti-

Pope M.E. Peace
View Blasted
by German Jew

Friday, November 28, 1980 11

BONN (JTA) — A couple
of days after heading a dele-
gation of West German
JeWry which met the Pope
in Mainz, the chairman of
the Jewish Community in
Bonn, Werner Nachmann,
criticized what he termed
the failure of the Vatican to
honor sufficiently the peace
treaty between Israel and
Egypt.

In an interview published
in "Die Welt" Nachamnn
observed that the Vatican
also failed to officially rec :
ognize the state of Israel, or
to send a nuncio to
Jerusalem.

Asked about a papal re-
mark to Mainz on the need
for all peoples to be recon-
ciled in Jerusalem,
Nachmann said: "I hope
that what the Pope meant
was that Jerusalem with its
holy places is today accessi-
ble to all religions. I hope
that the Pope meant he
wishes peace all come and
prays for it, that the present
situation will be kept un-
touched."

In the meeting with the
Pope the Jewish delegation
had asked the Pontiff to
support the present situa-
tion, where each religious
community takes care of its
own holy places.
