age 90.
A native Detroiter, Mrs.
Denenburg worked with her
late husband for nearly 50
years, prior to retiring in
1960. They started their

Palmer Streets and later
moved to West Vernor.
Her first job was selling

Brothers Department Store.
She was a member of

member-founders in a
collective known as Bal-
fouria under the Jewish
Colonial Trust in 1919.
One of seven families who
founded Temple Kol Ami in
1966 in Detroit, Golden is
active in the United Jewish
Appeal. He is a director of
the American Friends of
Haifa University and is or-
ganizing a Detroit Commit-
tee for the AFHU.

LOS ANGELES — Car-
mel Myers, silent film star
known for portraying un-
scrupulous women during
her movie career, died Nov.
9 at age 80.
The daughter of a rabbi,
Miss Myers appeared in
several films as well as in
vaudeville, in theater and
on radio and became the
host of an early television
interview program in 1951.
In later life, she imported
perfume, and the day before
her death she made a per-
sonal appearance at I. Mag-
nin, a Los Angeles depart-
ment store, to promote a
perfume known as "Car-
mel."
She was married three
times. In 1920, she mar-
ried I.M. Kornblum, a
songwriter and lawyer,
who she divorced three
years later. In 1929, she
married Ralph H. Blum, a
lawyer and agent who
died in 1930. In 1951,
she married Alfred W.
Schwalberg, then
president of the
Paramount Film Dis-
tributing Corp. He died
several years ago.
Among her film credits
are: "Beau Brummell,"
"Sorrell and Son," "Four
Walls," "Show of Shows"
and "Svengali."

Yitchok Perlov,
Forward Writer

NEW YORK — Yitchok
Perlov, drama critic since
1961 for the Jewish Daily
Forward, died Nov. 17 at
age 69.
Mr. Perlov was a poet who
wrote two books on Yiddish
poetry and translated into
Yiddish such books as "Dr.
Zhivago."
He was among those
aboard the ship Exodus and
in 1949 emigrated to Israel,
where he worked as a corre-
spondent for the Forward
and other newspapers.

Boris Aronson,
Stage Designer

NEW YORK — Boris
Aronson, the stage designer
whose works for the Broad-
way theater spanned .five
decades and won him six
Tony awards, died Nov. 16
at age 81.
Born in Kiev, Russia, one
of 10 children of the Chief
Rabbi of Kiev, Solomon
Aronson, Mr. Aronson went
to New York in 1923 and be-
came involved in two Yi
dish theater groups, L
Unser Theater and the Yid-
dish Art Theater.

Ella B. Goodman, the
only woman on the founding
board of the Jewish Home
for Aged on Petoskey Street,
died Nov. 18 at age 89.
Born in Indianapolis,
Ind., Mrs. Goodman was a
member of Cong. Bnai
Moshe, a member and past
president of its sisterhood
and the American Technion
Society.
She leaves to daughters,
Mrs. Aaron B. (Edna) Katz
and Mrs. Sidney L. (Marian)
'Goldstein of New Haven,
Conn.; and three
