IJA Report:
Arab- Boycott
Ineffective

LONDON — A report by
the Institute of Jewish Af-
fairs, the research arm of
the World Jewish Congress,
shows that the Arab boycott
of Egypt has done little, if
any damage to that coun-
try's economy.
In fact, according to the
survey, Egypt's economy
achieved real growth of
eight percent during 1979
and Arab investment con-
tinued to flow into Egypt at
the same level as in prev-
ious years. The report states
that the real danger of the
boycott, which came as re-
taliation for Egypt's par-
ticipation in the Camp
David agreements, is not
Arab enforcement, but
gratuitous enforcement by
those who wish to please the
Arabs.
