Games.
Meanwhile, the bas-
ketball season here is in
full swing with the Mac-
cabi Tel Aviv team show-
ing its supremacy as
usual. However, there
are indications that
Hapoel Tel Aviv and pos-
sibly Hapoel Ramat Gan
will challenge Maccabi
Tel Aviv for cham-
pionship honors in the
National League. Hapoel
Tel Aviv defeated two
tough teams during the
European Kourag Cop
Competition.

been strengthened consid-
erably by the addition of a
non-Jewish American, Tim
Horton. Each team in the
circuit is permitted to have
one non-Jewon-its roster.
Maccabi Tel Aviv has
three players of Christian
origin, including Aulcie
Perry and Jim Boatwright
who have converted to
Judaism. This has made it
possible for the team to sign
Earl Williams, formerly of
the Detroit Pistons and the
Boston Celtics. Last year
this group went all the way
to the European Cup finals,
losing to the Real Madrid
team from Spain.

Basketball, and all
other Israeli sports,
benefit from the coun-
try's Sportoto lottery,
based on the weekly
selection of winners of
soccer matches played in
the National Football
League.
The winners are those
who pick the decisions in
\ the 13 games scheduled for
each Saturday.
