Arab Service

JERUSALEM (ZINS) —
The Likud is considering a
proposal for compulsory,
non-military national serv-
ice for Israel's Arabs.
Arabs may volunteer for
Israel's defense forces but
are not required to serve.
Compulsory non-military
service would renew Israeli
Arab solidarity with the
country, according to the
Likud proposal.

first nuclear reactor in the
Middle East, at Dimona,
and that Egypt and Iraq
have agreed to the nuclear
non-proliferation treaty
while Israel has not.

Anti-Semitism Is
Critical Problem

JERUSALEM (ZINS). —
New Yorker Morris Avram
told a recent U.S. -Israel
dialogue that world-wide
anti-Semitism is the biggest
crisis faced by Israel.
He said that if the West
Bank problem is settled,
then the Arabs will raise
Jerusalem as an issue, or
the Golan Heights, or
Zionism itself.
"It makes little difference
what Israel does or fails to
do," he said. "The situation
is grim."

Likud in Trouble
