He was president of United Hebrew Schools from 1965 to 1968, chairman of the Midrasha College of Jewish Studies in 1972 and 1973 and con- tinues to serve on the boards of both organizations. Zelt- zer is a former chairman of Federation's Culture and Education budget and planning division. A member of the board of the Council of Jewish Fed- erations, Zeltzer recently completed a three-year na- tional chairmanship of the Large City Budgeting Con- ference. He serves on the boards of YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, American Association for Jewish Edu- cation and HIAS (Hebrew . Immigrant Aid Society). Zeltzer is president of American Federal Savings Association of Southfield. Avern Cohn, U.S. District Court Judge, is a member of the board of United Jewish Charities. She also is a member of the board of Jewish Vocational Service and of Federation's culture and education budgeting and planning division. Mrs. Stollman, co- recipient of the 1980 Fred M. Butzel Memorial Award, is a past president of Feder- ation's Women's Division, on whose board she con- tinues to serve. She is also a member of the board of United Jewish Charities. With her husband Max, and brother-in-law Phillip, she helped fund Bar-Ilan Uni- versity and was the or- ganizer and national president of the university's Women's Division. Tauber is co-chairman of the 1981 Allied Jewish Campaign. He is immediate past president of the Jewish Community Center and a former associate chairman of Federation's National Agencies Division. He is a member of the boards of Jewish Family Service and the Detroit Service Group. Frankel is past chairman of Federation's culture and education budget and plan- ning division. He is a member of the Committee on Capital Needs and serves on the board of United He- brew Schools and Midrasha College of Jewish Studies. Frankel has served as chairman of the United Jewish Appeal's National Young Leadership Cabinet. The board also elected David Handleman and Robert A. Steinberg as members-at-large to Federation's executive committee. Re-elected were Louis Berry, Shirley Harris, Thomas I. Klein, Jack A. Robinson, Alan E. Schwartz and Phillip Stollman. All terms are for one year. The recommendations were submitted by Federation's Nominating Committee consisting of chairman Mandell L. Berman and N. Brewster Broder, Lester S. Burton, Dr. Milton H. Gol- drath and Jessie Stern. Physicians Will Hear Livny at Bonds Tribute Dinner Jonathan - Livny, a Jerusalem attorney cur- rently on, a mission to Canada as a special repre- sentative of Hebrew Uni- versity, will be guest speaker at the Sinai Hospi- tal of Detroit tribute dinner on behalf of Israel Bonds, to be held 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at Adat Shalom Synagogue. The event will honor Dr. Eli M. Brown, chairman of the Department of Anes- thesiology at Sinai Hospital since 1954 and professor and chairman of the De- partment of Anesthesiology at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Brown will be the recipient of Israel's Maimonides Award "in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the cause of humanitarianism." Livny is the former attor- ney general for the West Bank, Judea and Samaria, a position he was appointed to following the Six-Day War when he was 25 years of age. A major in the Israel Defense Forces Livny served in that war and in the Yom Kippur War of 1972. The program will take place in the Oakland Center Building. Activities include two showings of the TV documentary film, "Jerusalem," narrated by Elie Wiesel. The film will be shown at 10:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the exhibit lounge. At noon, in the Meadow- brook Room, Dr. Robert Rockaway of the depart- ment of Jewish history, Tel Aviv University, will speak on "Tales of Jerusalem: Past and Present."
