Special Education Seminar
at United Hebrew Schools

United Hebrew Schools
and Temple Beth El will
host a special education con-
ference 1:15-5:30 p.m. Sun-
day at the main United He-
brew Schools building.
Rabbi Joseph Kelman of
Toronto is the guest consul-
tant. He will bring new
materials and methods in
teaching children with spe-
cial problems. He also will
address parents and be
available for private consul-
tations.
Rabbi Kelman is the
ider of Kadimah School,
a-special school for the re-
tarded; the founder of Ezra,
a Jewish school for the
learning disabled; and the
founding president of the
Reena Foundation, a group
home for the retarded. He
has also led trips to Israel
for the handicapped.
Rabbi Kelman has also
established a Hebrew
Day School for the excep-
tional child in Toronto.
He is the chairman of the
committee on special
education of the United
Synagogue and has

served as rabbi of Cong.
Beth Emeth in Toronto
for 21 years.
Luncheon will be served.
Rabbi Kelman will present
the in-service component
for teachers from 2 to 4 p.m.
He will make a special pre-
sentation to parents from 4
to 5 p.m. and consult with
parents between 5 and 5:30
p.m.

Eight members of the
American Nazi Party
walked out of Temple Beth
El Sunday evening follow-
ing a speech by Nazi-hunter
Simon Wiesenthal.

The Detroit Alumni
Chapter of Alpha Omega
will hold its annual Israel
Bonds tribute luncheon
noon Nov. 23 at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek.
This year's honoree will
be Dr. Sam Stulberg "in
recognition of the many
years that he has served
Alpha Omega, the Jewish
community and the state of
Israel." Dr. Stulberg will be
presented with Israel's
Maimonides Award.
The honoree has held
active membership in more
than a dozen professional
and honorary societies, in-
cluding the Academy of De-
ntistry for the Handi-
capped, the K.A. Easlick
Graduate Society and the
Omicron Kappa Upsilon
Honor Society.
Born in Toronto, Dr.
Stulberg received his DDS
and MS from the University
of Michigan, specializing in
children's dentistry. He was
a clinical instructor at U-M
for two years and later
served in the U.S. Army
Dental Corps, attaining the
rank of major.
He has been married to
the former Judith Victor
for 39 years. They are the
parents of three sons. The
Stulbergs are members of
Cong. Shaarey Zedek,
where Dr. Stulberg is a
member of the board and
chairman of the Music
Committee.
Tribute luncheon chair-
man is Dr. Jack Lawson;
chapter president is Dr.
Lawrence E. Wenokur.
Guest speaker at the
luncheon will be comedian
Mickey Freeman, who por-
trayed the role of Private
Zimmerman in the
Sergeant Bilko television
series.
Freeman has since won
wide acclaim as an after
dinner speaker and as a
raconteur at major clubs,
hotels and theaters.
In advance of the lunch-
eon, Detroit chdpter trea-
surer Dr. Joel P. Schaum-
berg and his wife Ellie,
treasurer of Detroit Auxil-
iary of Alpha Omega, will
host an Israel Bond infor-
mational seminar in their
Southfield home 8 p.m.
