Jewish Museum Historical
Director to Speak at SZ
Dr. Geoffrey Wigoder,
historical direbtor of Beth
Hatefutsot — the Museum
of the Jewish Diaspora —
will speak at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek 8 p.m. Nov. 17.
His slide presentation is
entitled, "Journey Through
the Museum of the Jewish
Diaspora."
Dr. Wigoder was born in
England and educated in
Dublin, at the Jewish
Theological Seminary and
_t Oxford University, where
he earned a PhD degree.
In 1940, he joined the
staff of Kol Israel, Israel
Radio, and directed its
overseas broadcasts
until 1967.
Dr. Wigoder is the direc-
tor of the oral history di-
vision of the Institute of
Contemporary Jewry at
Hebrew University and di-
rector of its Rad film arc-
hives. He also is the head of
the academic unit of the
World Zionist Organiza-
tion's department for de-
velopment and service.
He is the editor-in-chief of
Bnai Moshe Congregants

Dr Wigoder's talk is spon-

Jewish Family Focus of Talk
Next Week at Beth Shalom
"The Jewish Family: Is It
Jewish? Is It a Family?" will
be the theme of Cong. Beth
Shalom's scholar-in-
residence, Dr. Dov Peretz
Elkins, who will speak 8:30
p.m. Nov. 14 and 9 a.m. Nov.
15 at the synagogue.
A specialist on counsel-
ing, Dr. Elkins has written
for the Jewish and general
press and was the author
and editor of 15 books. He
served as the rabbi for con-
gregations in Philadelphia,
Pa.; Jacksonville, Fla; and
Rochester, N.Y.
Dr. Elkins was trained in
laboratory education, group
dynamics, human develop-
ment and humanistic edu-
cation at leading growth
centers throughout North
America.
A catered dairy lunch-
eon will follow Shabat
morning services Nov. 15
at which Dr. Elkins will
continue his discussion.

Temple to Host
Annual Art Show
The annual Birmingham
Temple Art Show and Sale
will be conducted Nov.
14-16, at the temple.
Nearly 80 Michigan ar-
tists will be displaying their
works during the three-day
event. Among the media to
be displayed are
watercolors, oils, acrylics,
pottery, weaving, photog-
raphy, jewelry, ceramics,
bronze, clay, glass and
others.
The show and sale will
open with a wine preview 8
p.m. Nov. 14. Hours for the
weekend are noon to 9 p.m.
Nov. 15 and noon to 5 p.m.
Nov. 16. There are admis-
sion charges for the preview
and the show.
Proceeds will benefit the
Birmingham Temple.
