Landmark Status for School

TEL AVIV (JTA) — Mik-
veh Israel, the first Jewish
agricultural school estab-
lished in Palestine, has
been officially declared a
national landmark. It is the
first institution of its kind
so designated in Israel.
The school, established in
1870 just outside Jaffa by
Charles Netter on behalf of
the Alliance Israelite Uni-
verselle in Paris, is a two-
story building that served
as a dormitory for 60 stu-
dents. It also contained
classrooms, kitchen and
office facilities and an adja-
cent barn.
The livestock consisted of
cows, bulls, two donkeys, a
horse, a mule and several
sheep. The late Premier

Kipa Is Center
of Law Suit

A 19-year-old Orthodox
Jew from Southfield has
filed a $1 million law suit in
Oakland County Circuit
Court against the Bonaven-
ture Skating Rink in Far-
mington Hills for refusing
to allow him into the rink
last July because he was
wearing a kipa.
Jeffrey Klein, a student
at Wayne State University,
said , he had skated at the
rink in the past. He said on
some occasions he had to
explain to the rink staff that
the skullcap was a religious
symbol. He kept the kipa at-
tached to his hair with
bobby pins.
The rink has a policy of
not allowing hats because of
the danger posed to skaters
if a hat falls to the floor.

FBI Dirty Tricks

NEW YORK — Conduc-

years of harassment after
his wife allowed their

Bernstein said documents
released under the Freedom
of Information Act in the
case of a Black Panther
leader in New York, show
that the FBI sent him hate
mail and attempted to dam-
age his relations with Is-
rael.
