Clergy Gathers
to Back Israel

NEW YORK — Priests,
ministers and rabbis will
gather for a nationwide
two-day religious convoca-
tion in support of Israel,
Sunday and Monday at the
headquarters of the Anti-
Defamation League of Bnai
Brith in New York City.
The convocation has been
convened by Father Edward
Flannery, advisory commit-
tee member, Secretariat for
Catholic-Jewish Relations
of the National Conference
of Catholic Bishops; Dr.
Walter Harrelson, professor
of Old Testament at the
Vanderbilt Divinity School
in Tennessee; Sister Rose
Thering, professor of educa-
tion at Seton Hall Univer-
sity, New Jersey; Dr. Ar-
nold Olson, president-
emeritus, The Evangelical
Free Church, of America,
Minneapolis; and Rabbi
Ronald B. Sobel of Temple
Emanu-El, New York,,
chairman of ADL's program
committee. '
According to a joint
statement issues by the
convenors, the objective of
the convocation, to be
hosted by the ADL, is to
"develop a moral force
which will clearly and effec-
tively express, across de-
nominational lines, support
for Israel by America's reli-
gious groups."

If we were to recount all
our sins, we would never
complete the list. Therefore,
we use the alphabetical
form: The alphabet has a
beginning and an end. The
Yom Kippur) confessional
is in the plural because
every Jew is responsible for
all other Jews.
