Project Renewal
Nursery Opens
in Ramat Gan
JERUSALEM (JTA) —
The first building to be
erected from Project Re-
newal funds, an ultra-
modern day nursery for 80
young children, was opened
two weeks ago in Ramat
Hashikma, a district of
Ramat Gan. The funds were
raised by the Philadelphia
Jewish community, which
is linked to Ramat
Hashikma in Project Re-
newal.
Jewish Agency Executive
chairman Leon Dulzin, De-
puty Premier Yigael Yadin,
the government's chief
representative on Project
Renewal, and Ramat Gan
Mayor Israel • Peled
attended the opening to-
gether with representatives
of the Philadelphia commu-
nity. Dulzin declared that
past misunderstandings
between the government
and the Jewish Agency over
Project Renewal were now
over and the two bodies
would be working in har-
mony on the project.

-The
Organization/Jewish
Agency will undertake a
total overhaul of its system
of appointing and training
shlichim (emissaries to the
Diaspora) in the wake of in-
sistent urging by chairman
Leon Dulzin that has finally
overcome opposition from
some of the departments.
A recent announcement
confirmed that the two
main planks of Duizin's
proposal had been carried
by the WZO Executive and
would be implemented: a
central authority for
shlichut will be set up, and a
single training program for
shlichim will be instituted.

In the future, shlichim
will be "emissaries of the
WZO or of the Jewish
, Agency, not shlichim of par-
ticular departments."
Moreover, shlichim operat-
ing in a particular country
will work "as a united dele-
gation" under the leader-
ship of a senior shaliach
who will represent "the
WZO Executive" as such.

GREENE BROS
TEL AVIV (ZINS) —
Former Israeli Foreign
Minister Abba Eban re-
cently told Davar that he
had suggested formal
Israeli-Soviet meetings in
Geneva during the early
1970s.
Eban said that Andrei
Gromyko opted for casual
meetings instead. Eban
wrote that Henry Kissinger
helped arrange the meet-
ings, contrary to reports
that he opposed them, and
that Yigal Allon met with
Gromyko in 1975.
Eban said the meetings
ended after Moshe Dayan
became, foreign minister in
1977.
