AJC-IEF Events Are Scheduled

Allied Jewish Campaign
activities have begun to as-
sure success for the fund-
raising tasks for 1981.
A special awards meet-
ing, honoring workers in
the Metropolitan Division
of the 1980 Allied Jewish
Campaign-Israel Emer-
gency Fund, will be held
Oct. 26 in the Senior Adult
Lounge, Room 239, of the
Jewish Community Center,

West Bloomfield.
Continental breakfast
will be served at 9:45 a.m.,
followed by a guest lecture
by Fredrick Newman, a
University of Michigan
graduate in international
relations, who specializes in
the Middle East.
Newman, who has spent
time in Israel as a scholar at
the Brandeis University
Jacob Hiatt Institute of
Mideast Studies, will share
his views on the national
United Jewish Appeal
President's Mission to Po-
land and Israel. Some 25
Detroiters took part in this
recent mission.
The Detroit group vis-
ited Auschwitz and Bir-
kenau, as well as Mila 18
and other remembrances
of the Warsaw Ghetto
Uprising.
In Israel, they had a sup-

home of Carolyn Greenberg.

member of the first United
Jewish Appeal Survey Mis-

and also was a member of
