One employee wrote, "As a black supervisor who has worked at CHPC-SEM for several years, and one of those who supervised Mr. Rubinstein, I resent the charge your paper has pub- lished that I am anti- Semitic since it is ground- less. You have injured my professional reputation by printing such false and un- founded charges." Another employee, Carol Singer, wrote that she is Jewish and con- troller of the CHPC. She said the "reports issued by the various gov- ernmental agencies are at this point allegations only. "If I thought the charges were true, I would be unable to continue my employment with the agency." Ms. Singer said she had no knowledge of other Jewish employees at CHPC being subjected to anti- Semitism, nor is she aware of any pattern of anti- Semitism that has led other Jewish employees to quit. She also took exception to remarks made by Pernick alleging a "broader pattern of mismanagement at CHPC." She said the agency has been investigated and audited and in all cases "the reports ha!ve been positive and there has never been a conclusion that the agency has been mismanaged." Pernick said Oakland County has withdrawn its financial support for CHPC because of charges of mis- management.
