THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Morris Brandwine, Former JNF President, Activist on Many Fronts, Reaches Age of 70 Morris_ Brandwine, former president of the Jewish National Fund Council of Detroit, a leader in congregational and other movements, will reach his 70th year next Friday. Brandwine came to De- troit in 1916 from New York. He is a graduate of Cass Technical High School and the University of De- roit, earning his U-D degree in architectural engineer- ing. He spent most of his life in the oil business, retiring 10 years ago. On his birthday in 1937, he married the former Matilda Biber. They have three children and four grandchildren. Brandwine has served three terms as president of Bnai David, was a member of its building committee and has served on its board for 30 years. He has been active in Israel Bonds since its inception and was Man of the Year in 1964. He has been chairman of the local chapter of the America-Israel Public Af- fairs Committee for 14 years and served on the na- Sit-tin Pretty Finest Selection Of tional executive board. He is also active on the boards of United Hebrew Schools and the Jewish Community Council, and with Hillel Day School and the Zionist Organization of America — Detroit District. He has served three terms as president of the JNF Council, and has served as president of the JNF Foun- dation and on the local and national board.
