children who have been
involved in special pro-
grams throughout the
school year. Sixty-eight
children • attended the
day camp this summer.
The facility is designed
for children, age 3-7, whose
special problems render
them unable to function ef-
fectively in the traditional
pre-school program. Rein-
forcing the program are
weekly sessions for parents
who receive counseling in a
variety of subjects including
special education programs
and parent-effectiveness
training.

Carolyn Bowey, president
of the Metropolitan Detroit
Association for the Educa-
tion of Young Children, ex-
plained that the day camp
helds the child and the fam-
ily, through the supportive
aid, and the community, by
preventing future destruct-
ive behavior.
In consecrating the
facility, Rabbi Richard
Hertz of Temple Beth El,
long-time friend of the fam-
ily, paid tribute to the mem-
ory of Mr. Schwartz, and to
Mrs. Schwartz's "dedication
to the children of the Detroit
community."
