Arts, Crafts Show op Symphony in Farmington The Farmington Corn- Concert Slated munity Center will hold its ninth annual arts and crafts show 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 18. Disicoviat BRIANMINARI) The Oak Park Symphony Orchestra will open its sea- son 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at Oak Park High School. The program will include Dvorak's "Carnival Over- ture," Shostakovich's "Fifth Symphony," and the Sibelius "Violin Concerto" with guest artist, Linda Snedden Smith. This will be the first con- cert with the Oak Park Symphony for the new con- ductor, Ervin Monroe, first flutist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. A reception will follow. Tickets can be purchased at the box office. Theater Named for Nederlander NEW YORK The Trafalgar theater on 41st Street was renamed the Nederlander, in honor of Detroit theater impresario David T. Nederlander in ceremonies held here. Backers for the opening performance at the re- named theater include Bloomfield Hills developer Alfred Taubman. The Nederlanders, who operate the Fisher and Bir- mingham theaters, as well as Pi'e Knob, now own nine theaters on Broadway.
