dous amount of up front per-
sonality and put on a great
show with oodles of rhythm
. . . Their immense energy
also gets in a Gladys Knight
and The Pips medley with
their first big hit in 1961,
"For You" . . . and the
spine-chilling great,
"Neither One Of Us Wants
To Say Goodbye" . . . some
Supremes and Steve Won-
der, also.
They were discovered
in a little Akron, Ohio
spot by Rickey Dee
(Drapkin) and brought
over to Lorio-Ross,
where he is a talent
scout-booker . . . Rickey
refined their act and it is
to the credit of all seven
that they listened to him.
Their first job in this area
was at Ramada Inn of
Southfield . . . I heard them
there and was impressed
even then . . . However,
nothing like today.
Rumplestiltskin has been
traveling throughout
Michigan with the same
raves and questions, "When
are you coming back?"
Don Vargo will follow
them with "Magic" . . . an-
other fine group hereab-
outs.

cocktail lounge . . . with
elegant dining features like
a rolling hors d' oeuvres cart
. . . Chances are with this
small seating, reservations
will be necessary at all
times.
SUNDAY BRUNCH
will soon start at Healthy
Jones on Northwestern
north of 12 Mile Rd. . . .
It'll be one of the first
natural foods brunches in
the Midwest . . . with
whole wheat bagels, lox,
cream cheese, etc. . . .
Owner Joan Wittenberg's
145-seating restaurant
would burst at the seams if
all the people came who said
they couldn't wait for the
brunch to open . . . Word is
that it'll really be a dandy.
Healthy Jones is more
than just a restaurant . . .
from the. little 40-seater a
short ways away, it has
grown into a beautiful, airy
dining spot, dairy, fruit
market, etc. etc. . . . and
contrary to some thoughts,
natural foods is not without
taste . . . It's just real
healthy . . .
While there I had a delici-
ous Western omelette . . .
made with all the regular
ingredients except meat
. . . and a mouth-smacking
piece of carrot cake.
Joan got into the natural
foods ways after an illness
. . . and being cured by
changing her eating habits
. . . She is married to Dr.
Donald Wittenberg.
"I'll USE THE $500 to
buy an American car,"
says Ron Monte, man-
ager at the Wicker Works
at Northfield Hilton, Troy
. . . who received the re-
ward recently for his
maximum service and
special attention during
the Republican Conven-
tion here . . . It was given
to Ron by the Detroit
Civic Host Committee
. . . along with honors to
employes at Detroit Plaza
Hotel, Pontchartrain
Hotel and Stouffer's
Northland Inn.
Northfield Hilton hosted
the Mississippi and Ken-
tucky delegations . . .
Delegates noted (in 200
words or less) that Ron was
available around the clock
importantly contributed to
their living comfort and ef-
ficiently handled innumer-
able requests for extra serv-
ice.
CHICAGO-STYLE stuf-
fed pizza . . . not to be con-
fused with deep-dish pizza
. . . is round instead of
square . . . and has been at
Bella Russo Pizzeria on
Nine Mile, just west of
Coolidge in Oak Park, only
about four weeks . . . The
pizza spot opened eight
months ago and operated by
Rick Bellomo became a big
favorite with its regular
pizza acrd all the extra
goodies (there's no charge
for added cheese) . . Now
with its Chicago-style stuf-
fed pizza, Bella Russo's has
been causing a lot of talk.
It's different and quite de-
licious . . . with layers of
dough on top and bottom
