Absorption
Jewish refugees from
Arab lands received no fi-
nancial support whatsoever
from the international
community: their absorp-
tion was financed, to the
last cent, by the Israel gov-
ernment and by their
Jewish brethren in Istael
and abroad.

Intermarriage
NEW YORK — Of the
2,600 respondents to a sur-
vey of Conservative
synagogue members by the
United Synagogue of
America, 14 percent indi-
cated they had at least one
offspring married to a per-
son not born Jewish.
In Texas and upstate New
York that figure climbed to
25 percent while in Michi-
gan and northern New Jer-
sey it dropped to seven per-
cent.
When asked whether the
non-Jewish partner con-
verted to Judaism, 34 per-
cent responded affirma-
tively. However, in south-
ern New Jersey 57 percent
indicated "yes" while in
Minnesota only 16 percent
did so.
