Trial in Philadelphia PHILADELPHIA (JTA) — Denaturalization hear- ings in the case of alleged Nazi war criminal Wolodymir Osidach began here Monday in Federal Court. If convicted, he could lose his U.S. citizenship and be subject to deportation. Osidach is accused of lying on his U.S. visa and citizenship applications by failing to give certain in- formation about his activi- ties during World War II. He is alleged to have be- aten, shot and killed un- armed Jewish civilians while serving as comman- dant of the Ukrainian police in Rave-Ruska, Ukraine, between 1941 and 1945 and to have rounded up and transported Jews to exter- mination camps during the war. He also is alleged to have gained U.S: citizen- ship by covering up con- victions for acts stem- ming from his leadership role in the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, a col- laborationist group which assisted German authorities during World War II. Holiday Prices TEL AVIV (JTA) — Rosh Hashana shoppers in Israel found markets and stores stocked with every conceiv- able type of food necessary for the High Holy Days. But many shoppers' found it hard to pay the prices, which have soared in recent days. Fish replaced poultry as the holiday fare because it is cheaper, and expensive wines were bypassed for or- dinary kidush wine. Approximately 10 eyewitnesses to the at- rocities will be presented by government attorneys from the Office of Special Inves- tigations of the Department of Justice, the special unit created for the purpose of prosecuting Nazi war crim- inals re s iding in the United States.
