British Rank
El Al at Top
Happy New Year
from the management and staff of
CHICAGO — El Al
ranked number one in a
survey recently conducted
by the London Daily Mail.
Of the seven trans-Atlantic
air carriers evaluated in the
survey, El Al scored 84 out
of 100 points, followed by
World Airways with 79,
Laker with 75, Air India
with 72, Pan Am with 68,
British Airways with 65,
and TWA with 45.
The results of the Daily
Mail survey brought im-
mediate reaction to El Al's
Regent Street Office. A long
line of standby passengers
formed during the night,
waiting for space
availabilities on El Al's
London-New York flight.
While ticketing agents
were busy with the long line
of eager passengers, the
switchboard was inundated
with hundreds of phone
calls from people requesting
information about El Al
flights to Tel Aviv.

Buma Shavit, El Al's
chaiiman of the board,
cautioned that the recog-
nition of El Al's service
should not be taken as a
premature sign that the
uphill fight to • be number
one is over.
"This is only the first step
on the long road to becom-
ing the best airline in the
world. After all, 84 out of
100 points is good, but we
still have 16 points to go."
