"Eating at a restaurant which serves water only on request supposedly to con- serve energy. One wonders if it's because there's money to be made on wine, not H2O, and why all restau- rants don't follow the no- water policy. "Asking for artificial sweetener and having the waitress dig for a packet of Sweet n' Low out of her pocket as though it were a forbidden treasure. Just as bad as a waitress or waiter insisting the sweetener is already on your table and it isn't. "Expecting a pleasant evening and being served by someone who looks as though his or her feet hurt too much to smile. Unhappy feet dampen one's appetite. "Trying to hold a quiet conversation with your dinner partner and being constantly interrupted by an overzealous busboy, wai- ter or waitress who rattles dishes or chews your ears off. "Paying as much for the salad bar as a full-course meal which comes with the salad bar. "Walking into a restau- rant which is practically empty and being asked if you have a reservation. You may have reservations about eating in a place like that. "Not finding a place to park at one of your favo- rite restaurants because there simply aren't enough spaces to ac- commodate customers. "Going to a restaurant where valets refuse to let you park your own car and expect a hefty tip for some- thing you could easily do yourself. "You can probably add to this list of gripes. It makes all the difference because you'll probably never fre- quent that eating spot again and you'll warn your friends to stay away. "It's also annoying being with someone who whistles for the waiter or waitress and bawls him or her out for something the chef should or shouldn't have done to the food."
