THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

Prisoner of Zion, Israel
Zalmanson on arrival in
Israel: I cannot be com-
pletely happy today because
I am not the last. There are
still more people in Soviet
camps and prisons.
My two brothers and my
sister, Sylva's husband are
still being held captive. I
would like to thank all those
who wrote letters to me and
to my friends while we were
in prison. We know that
many people are writing but
not enough of the letters are
getting through.

original role.
"Annie Get Your Gun"
will be performed every
Friday and Saturday
night for an unlimited
engagement at Paradiso
. . . Edgar A. Guest III will
direct th,e show ... with
Barbara Anne Gowans as
musical director and the
show choreographed by
Dennis East.
Opening night is just
about sold out . . . and
there's little doubt that
other performances will be
near the same mark.
Group rates also make
"Annie Get Your Gun" a
great vehicle for organiza-
tions to raise money.
MYSTERY
THE
MUNCHER writes . . . "If
you're looking for a taste of
Paris minus the jet lag, you
might step inside the
French Gourmet Shop on
Middlebelt at 14 Mile in
Farmington Hills.
"Chef Daniel Garceau, a
culinary artist from gay
Paree, whips up an interest-
ing assortment of lavish
concoctions with liquors,
creams, real butter, fresh
fruit and nuts. The atmos-
phere is warm and friendly.
"Owners of chic French
restaurants serve Garceau's
eclairs, napoleons, fruit
tarts, mousses and original
creations at their eateries.
French food connoisseurs
can sample the fare for as
little as 50 cents for crois-
sants and rolls, 95 cents for
a baker's dozen of Palmier
honey butterflies and $1.17
for fruit tarts and other pas-
teries.
"Dining out is a popu-
lar social pastime but it
can cause heartburn and
upset stomachs. It's not
necessarily the food
that's hazardous to your
health. There are other
factors. Your probably
have your own pet
peeves, but here are some
of ours:
"Ordering a Bloody Mary
without spice and getting it
highly seasoned with Ta-
basco sauce and other hot
stuff.
"Asking the waitress or
waiter to bring you another,
but this time with tomato
juice, and the bartender
leaves out the vodka.
"Specifying you want
your salad dressing on the
side and your salad comes
drowned in oil and vinegar,
creamy garlic, blue cheese,
thousand island or French.
"Sitting for half:an-
hour waiting to be served
and discovering the hos-
tess shouldn't have put
you in that particular
section because the shifts
are changing and there's
no one to serve you.
"Ordering a drink and
having the waitress or wai-
ter grab it away half-
finished and then hustling
you to have another
cocktail.
"That same waiter or
waitress never seems to be
around when you want a
second cup of hot coffee. He
