Her leadership in several movements, the inspiration she had given to hundreds of co-workers, will be recalled when she is feted on her 90th birthday, Sunday, by family and friends, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Byron (Dorothy) Gerson. In more than one sense, the history of Detroit Jewry during the past seven de- cades is recorded in the story of Sarah Davidson. When Rabbi A.M. Her- shman was president of the Detroit District of the Zionist Organization of SARAH DAVIDSON America, Mrs. Davidson, as the young Sarah Wetsman, was secretary of the movement here. That's when her associ- ates were Dora Ehrlich, Mrs. A.M. (Miriam) Her- shman and Jeanette Steinberg and the early activists in the Zionist cause. By that time she had already been active in Hadassah and had associated with Hen- rietta Szold, the founder of the movement, and many of the notables. She served as president of Detroit Chapter of Hadas- sah and also was president of the Midwest Region of Hadassah, including the chapters in the state of Michigan. She was among the most active leaders in the Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood and her role there continued for three decades. Her sister Fannie Saul- son was among her closest associates in sis- terhood, Hadassah and other activities. She was married in 1920 to Ralph Davidson. He died in 1941.
