She was vice president and chairman of guard- ianship, scholarship and Material for Overseas Training; a charter member of Detroit Chap- ter of Bnai Brith; a member of the Lawyers' Wives of Detroit and Michigan; board member of Hadassah; and was in- volved in efforts on be- half of Children's Hospi- tal Auxiliary, Sinai and Mt. Carmel Hospitals, Brandeis University, Na- tional Council of Jewish Women, Allied Jewish Campaign, Red Feather, Girl Scouts, Detroit Ar- tists, Friends of the De- troit Public Library, Michigan Heart Associa- tion, March of Dimes and more. She also was a chairman for U.S. War Bonds drives. during World War IL In 1969, Judge Wise re- ceived the Distinguished Alumni Award from Wayne State University Law School. The judge is active in the American, Michigan and Detroit Bar Associa- tions; American Judicature Society; National Confer- ence of Metropolitan Courts; Circuit Court Committee of the State Bar; public relations committee of the American Bar Asso- ciation; administrative committee of the Wayne County Circuit Court; and Michigan State Bar Corn- mittee on 'Court Adminis- tration and Public Rela- tions. Judge Wise is a life member of the board and a past president of the Old Newsboys Goodfellow Fund of Detroit and past president of the Probus Club and Wayne State Uni- versity Law School Alumni Association. He is a founder of Michigan ORT of Detroit and served on its board. He also is on the board of trustees of the Traffic Safety Association. He is a member of Craftsman Lodge of the Masons, Scot- tish Rite Bodies and Mos- lem Temple and is presently chairman of the credentials committee of the Scottish Rite Bodies. Judge Wise re- ceived the Scottish Rite Service Club's Diamond Emblem in 1968 and is a 33rd Degree Mason. Judge Wise served as general chairman of the Capuchin Charity Guild's Tiger Baseball Dinner to benefit De- troit's Mt. Elliott Avenue Soup Kitchen. He has also been chairman of the annual Bar-Ilan Univer- sity and Yeshivath Beth Yehudah affairs. Judge Wise was a former member of the executive committee of the Jewish Community Council and served on its public rela- tions committee for many years. He is a former member of the boards of the Jewish Welfare Federation and Detroit Service Group; past civic affairs chairman for Greater Detroit Bnai Brith Council. and former presiding officer of Detroit Lodge of Bnai Brith. He has served on many other charitable civic and com- munity organizations. Judge and Mrs. Wise have been members of Tem- ple Beth El for more than 45 years and the judge served on the men's club board.
