dangerous brew, threaten-
ing Israel's status in
Jerusalem and menacing
the Jews in Israel and the
Diaspora.
On Aug. 13, Crown Prince
Fand of Saudi Arabia called
for a "long and persistent
jihad (holy war), the only
answer to this Zionist reli-
gious and racist arrogance."
This is not a new Saudi pol-
icy. It re-affirms a deep-
rooted and all-consuming
hostility, which apologists
for "moderate" Saudi
Arabia — Arabists and oil-
men —.prefer to dismiss as

conceal it; he flaunted it. On
Jan. 31, 1947, according to
an unpublished State De-
partment document, Ibn
Siiud received ARAMCO's
General Manager Mac-
Pherson. Ambassador J.
Rives Childes described the
visit as a "notable success in
increasing the King's es-
teem for the United States."
He continued, "The
King averred that the
Koran enjoined Moslems
to respect Christians but
that there was no such
exception made for Jews.
All Jews should be kil-
led."
On Jan. 9, 1954, his son,
King Saud, proclaimed that
"the Arab nations should
sacrifice up to 10 million of
their 50 million people, if
necessary, to wipe out Is-
rael," the Associated Press
reported. "Israel to the Arab
world is like a cancer to the
human body, and the only
way of remedy is to uproot
it, just like a cancer," he
elaborated.
Earlier, in 1945, when
President Roosevelt was re-
turning from Yalta, Ibn
Saud met him to warn that
the Arabs would resist a
Jewish state, and in his
March 1 message to Con-
gress Roosevelt interpo-
lated that he had learned
more about "the Moslems —
the Jewish problem by talk-
ing with Ibn Saud for five
minutes than I could have
learned in the exchange of
two or three dozen letters."
Sadat was no stranger to
this squalid war. In April
1972, he denounced Jews as
"a mean, traitorous and
treacherous people who had

broke off negotiations,
the Cairo media dutifully
resumed their blasts.

mand that the Arabs of East
Jerusalem vote for the West
Bank administrative coun-
cil is, in itself, inconsistent
with the Camp David
agreement. It is, in fact, a
pre-emptive strike to recog-
nize East Jerusalem as part
of the West 'Bank — a fait
accompli.
While the world attacks
Israel's Knesset for affirm-
ing Jerusalem as Israel's
capital, it overlooks the
Jerusalem resolution in the
Egyptian parliament weeks
ago which proclaimed the
city to be "an integral part
of the West Bank."
An Al-Gumhuriyah car-
toon, on Aug. 7, showed Hit-
ler pinning a swastika on
Begin's chest, with a "Heil
Begin" salute. One week la-
ter, the newspaper's editor
wrote: "We apologize to Hit-
