Historian Solomon Grayzel

NEW YORK — Dr. Sol-
omon Grayzel, an authority
on Jewish-Christian rela-
tions in the Middle Ages,
died Aug. 12 at age 84.
According to the New
fork Times, for nearly
three decades before joining
the faculty at Dropsie Uni-
versity in Philadelphia, Dr.
Grayzel was editor of the
Jewish Publication Society
of A. --cita, becoming editor
n f in 1939. He was
elected president of the
_Jewish Bpok Council of
America in 1945.
He was a professor of his-
tory at Dropsie from 1966 to
1978, when he retired from
active teaching.
He was the author of

Harvey Bielfield

Harvey Bielfield, a re-
tired attorney, died Aug. 9
in Bal Harbour, Fla: He was
72.
-- A native Detroiter, Mr.
Bielfield retired to Florida
12 years ago. He was
graduated from Wayne
(State) University in 1927
and the University of
Michigan Law School in
1930. He was a member of
'Cong. Shaarey Zedek,
Knollwood Country Club,
Detroit Lodge of Bnai Brith
and the Rotary Club of
Hamtramck of which he
was a past president. He
also was a member of the
State Bar of Michigan.
He leaves his wife,
Nathalie; a son, Jay of West
Bloomfield; a daughter,
Mrs. Stephen (Linda) Bloom
of Bloomfield Hills; two
brothers, SidneY of New
York and Milton of Oak
Park; a sister, Marion of
Washington, D.C.; and four
grandchildren. Interment
Detroit.

Dr. Grayzel was ordained
at the Jewish Theological
Seminary and was named
the first rabbi of the newly
founded Cong. Beth-El in
Camden, N.J.; five years
later he resigned to study in
Europe.
Upon his return to the
U.S., he joined the faculty of
Gratz College in Philadel-
phia, where he taught
Jewish history and served
as registrar until 1945.

interior decorator, died
Aug. 9 at age 73.
Born in Poland, Mrs. Fin-
kelstein was a member of
Hadassah, Music Study
Club, American Jewish
Congress and Women's
American ORT.
She leaves her husband,
Morris; a daughter, Mrs.
Barbara Cullen of Newton
Center, Mass.; a brother,
Paul Creger; a sister, Mrs.
Bessie Fisher of Los
Angeles; Calif.; and two
grandchildren.

Aaron Pomeranz

Aaron Pomeranz, co-
founder and partner in the
firm of Siegel Property
Management Co., died Aug.
8 at age 74.
Born in Austria, Mr.
Pomeranz lived 67 years in
Detroit. He was a member of
Mosaic Lodge of the Ma-
sons. He resided at 16231
Pennsylvania, Southfield.
He is survived by his wife,
Sadie; a son, Jerome B. of
Miami, Fla.; a daughter,
Mrs. Cheryl Davidson; and
two grandchildren.

86, 18244 Sorrento, Detroit,
died Aug. 11. Survived by a
daughter, Mrs. Gertrude
Kahn; 'a brother, Max Gunn
of Tucson, Ariz.; and a sis-
