A New Yorker by birth,
Dr. Schramm completed her
undergraduate training at
the City College of New
York, while enrolled simul-
tanewsly in a Hebrew cur-
riculum at the Teachers In-
stitute `or Women, Yeshiva
University. She received
her BA in English in 1963,
graduating Cum Laude.
She earned an MA in
English from the Univer-
sity of California in 1965.
Dr. Schramm continued her
training at the University
of Michigan and received
her doctorate in 1971. Her
husband is professor of
Semitic languages and lin-
guistics at the University of
Michigan. The Schramms
live in Southfield with their
three daughters.
Dr. Schramm has
taught English at Eastern
Michigan University,
Bar-Ilan University and
the University of
Michigan-Dearborn. She
is currently president of
an advertising agency.
She has been involved in
various community affairs
and organizations, includ-
ing a four-year term as
member of the education
committee for Yeshivat
Akiva.
The Allan-Touro College
will have programs for the
Russian immigrant popula-
tion in Metropolitan Detroit
and an adult education pro-
gram to serve the needs of
the larger Jewish and gen-
eral communities. Dr.
Schramm will announce
program specifics in the
near future.
