Temple Israel Begins
W. Bloomfield Move
LAWN SPRINKLER
REPAIRS
Temple Israel this week
took its first step toward re-
location in the suburbs with
the move of its offices to
West Bloomfield.
The new facility, located
at 5725 Walnut Lake Rd.,
will be totally ready for oc-
cupancy by the High Holy
Days, according to Stanley
M. Millman, newly-elected
president of the congrega-
tion.
While the daily work of
the temple will be carried
on at the West Bloomfield
address, religious services
will continue on Manderson
Road in Detroit through
Aug. 29, at 8:30 p.m. each
Friday.
The first service in the
new structure is
scheduled for Sept. 5,
when the Bar Mitzva of
David Comisar, son of
Mr. .and Mrs. Edward
Comisar, will be ob-
served.
Prior to the service, at
7:30 p.m., a ceremony is
planned to affix the mez-
zuza to the front of the
building and to carry in the
Torah scrolls.
Temple Israel, now 40
years old, held services in
the Detroit Institute of Arts
for the first decade of its
existence, and has been at
the Manderson address
since 1950 when it com-
pleted its first building.
The new structure will
have a sanctuary capable of
seating 1,800 people; a
chapel seating 200; a social
hall capable of serving 400

ing a Jewish divorce ("get").
The children born from
the second marriage are il-
legitimate, according to
Jewish law, since the
woman is still considered by
Jewish law to be the wife of
her first husband.
The council is asking at-
torneys to advise Jewish
clients of this problem.
