Litter, the oldest person in
age and service actively
associated with the Anti-
Defamation League of Bnai
Brith, died recently. He was
92.
Mr. Litter was a promi-
nent business and civic
leader and a former New
York City Human Rights
chairman and commis-
sioner.
Mr. Litter was an honor-
ary life member of the

since 1938, he was an active
member of the ADL's Na-
tional Program, Jewish-
Catholic Relations and Pub-
lications Committees, as
well as a member of the
agency's New York
Regional Board.
He helped establish the
ADL's Women's Division
and was active in the na-
tional commission from the
day it was first formed.
He was chairman of the
National Program Com-
mittee for 15 years and
was ex-officio member of
all committees of the ADL
divisions.
He was the recipient of
many honors, including
ADL's Torch of Liberty
Award presented to him on
his 90th birthday.
