A pioneer in the printing
industry; he continues to
serve many leading man-
ufacturers, primarily the
automotive.
A lifelong Zionist, he
takes pride in his
grandparents' and parents'
devotions to the Jewish na-
tional movement, his ances-
tors having settled and
spent their final decades of
their lives in pre-state Is-
rael.
His active Zionism
dates back to the years
when his family gave
pioneering credibility to
efforts in behalf of the
Jewish National Home.
He became associated
when his sister, the late
Jeanette Steinberg, was a
founder of Detroit
Hadassah and labored
for the movement with
Henrietta Szold. -
In industrial tasks, he
was associated with his
brother, the late Morris
- Steinberg, who was nation-
ally prominent in the prim-
ing industry, in introducing
instructive games as toys
for children, in sponsoring
chess and checker tourna-
ments.
In the early years of
Keren Hayesod and Zionist
Organization of Detroit ac-
tivities in pre-Israel days,
Steinberg was an associate
of the Detroit pioneers in
philanthropic and com-
munal services.
Steinberg worked for the
forerunners of the Torch
Drive. He later formed a
team with his brothers,
Morris and Theodore, and
the late Joseph H. Ehrlich
to annually solicit funds for
the United Jewish Ap-
peal, Keren Hayesod and
Allied Jewish Campaign.
Steinberg is a former
financial secretary of the
ZOD and publicity
chairman. He was ticket
sales chairman under
Meyer Weisgal who pro-
duced "Romance of a
People" in 1933 at Olym-
pia Stadium.
Steinberg dropped out of
Western High School in
1916 and later joined his
brothers who organized the
Morris Press in 1918. In
1943, Steinberg started his
own company, Amsterdam
Press, and purchased the
White Color Card Co. in
1944 and Millard Press in
Ann Arbor in 1962.
(Steinberg received his
high school diploma in
1975.)
Born in Toledo, Ohio,
Myron Steinberg came to
Detroit in 1912 and has
since attained acclaim for
his leadership in a variety of
causes and organizations.
