In Defense of State of Israel
Editor, The Jewish News:
Israel has no natural re-
sources . . . she is boycotted
by Arab-Communist coun-
tries and by blackmailed
democracies . . . has the
world's highest tax-rate and
inflation over 100 percent.
So anxious for peace, Is-
rael surrendered invaluable
Sinai military bases and oil
fields. Transfer to the
Negev costs nearly $4 bil-
lion.
Arabs of the West Bank
and Gaza have enjoyed un-
precedented liberties and
material gains — all to be
augmented by an autonomy
plan now to be rendered
risky by the new unreason-
able demands by the U.S.
and Egypt (such as disput-
ing freedom of movement by
Israeli armed forces
throughout the autonomous
area).

over Israel's present bor-
ders, Israel's Defense Forces
cannot safeguard Israel's
independence.
Israel is not the problem
. . . It is a world de-
moralized, unprincipled,
hell-bent to repeat a tragic
"Munich," kowtowing to a
Soviet-supported PLO
whose terrorism will ruin
even the tolerating non-
Communist countries.
It is an Arab world rocked
by convulsion, plagued by
religious and secular fer-
ment — but united to end
Israel's existence. It is U.S.
encouragement to Egypt's
deviation from Camp David
agreements (such as the at-
tempt to wrest E. Jerusalem
from Israel). It is the cynical
conspiracy to sacrifice Is-
rael on the altar of oil.

Prentis Manor Is Lauded
Editor, The Jewish News:
Prentis Manor should be
commended publicly. We
feel the entire community
should be aware there is a
place of never-ending love
and care for our elderly.
From the time mother
first became a resident, last
November, until her death
in June, we received only
compassionate understand-
ing from each and every one
associated with Prentis
Manor (Jewish Home for

the Aged).
Mom received more pro-
fessional care and attention
at Prentis than she did for
the six devastating weeks of
her stay in a local hospital.
We will never forget any-
one of the staff. We love
them all for their kindness
and thoughtfulness. We
pray there will someday be
more caring facilities for
our aged.

Papers Sought
on Jewish Women
Editor, The Jewish News:
Among your readers must
be teachers and/or students
who may have recently
written unpublished re-
ports or papers on the topic
of "Jewish women and
Jewish law."
As I am especially in-
terested in the controver-
sies in Jewish life — among
Reform, Conservative and
Orthodox, on this subject,
and am compiling a bibliog-
raphy on the subject, I am
eager to include listings of
unpublished materials on
the subject, and from
whom/where they can be
loaned or purchased.
I would appreciate hear-
ing from relevant readers
and promise to acknowledge
each paper, or citation of
same, on receipt.
