Leaders Support
MDA's Progress

NEW YORK — The lead-
ers of Magen David Adorn in
Israel met with the heads of
the Friends of MDA
Societies of the U.S., Great
Britain, South Africa and
Canada who visited Israel
for the ARMDI National
Convention held in
Jerusalem at the end of
June.
In these working meet-
ings the solidarity and
active involvement of the
Friends of MDA Societies in
the work of Magen David
Adorn was stressed.
At a meeting with Israel's
minister of health, Eliezer
Shostak, the leaders of the
Friends of MDA Societies
expressed their deep satis-
faction with the advances
made during the_past six

ARRY FREEDMAN

months in the reorganiza-
tion and streamlining of
MDA's structure and serv-
ices.
Shostak reaffirmed the
government's undertak-
ing to aid Magen David
Adorn in upgrading its
medical services for the
Israeli public.
At the working meetings,
far-reaching decisions were
made culminating in the es-
tablishment of the MDA In-
ternational Committee,
which will comprise repre-
sentatives of the Friends of
MDA Societies overseas and
of MDA in Israel, and which
has the aim to expand and
intensify aid to MDA in its
vital work.
Joseph Handleman, na-
tional president of Ameri-
can Red Magen David for Is-
rael, was elected first
chairman of the newly
formed committee. The
member-societies have
pledged their commitment
to help with the expansion
of MDA's services.
