VOESTERN INTERNA`nONAL

LISTENING
POST

IT'S ALWAYS NICE to
write something on a happy
note about people . . . espe-
cially someone I've known
for almost 50 years . . . This
is a big congrat to Morry
Bobroff and wife Sylvia on
the Bar Mitzva of their only
grandson, Jason Wine, son
of Elaine and Michael Wine,
at Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses . . . Elaine is Morry's
and Sylvia's daughter .. .
Hard to believe she has a
son that age!
DON'T KNOW HOW the
nasty and very false rumor
got started . . . but the new
owners of Sam's Fruit Mar-
ket on Nine Mile in Oak
Park are far from being
anything but Jewish .. .
Nate Light is president of
the City of Hope Mr. & Mrs.
Group . . . and wife Irene is
president of the Cong. Bnai
David Sisterhood:
PROUD PARENTS are
Frita and Jack Drapkin .. .
Their daughter, Jill Drap-
kin Montgomery (Bob),
graduates today from the
California School of Profes-
sional Psychology, Berkley
Campus . . . receiving her
PhD in Clinical Psychology.
Jill was also chosen the
most outstanding student in
her class . . . and will deliver
the graduating address .. .
Her talents in dancing and
music are noted too.
She has already been
selected for a position on the
staff of the Austen Riggs
Center in Stockbridge,
Mass.
Frita's brother, Ben, who
left Detroit many years ago
to live on the island of
Majorca near Spain, is a
columnist for the local daily
paper there . . . His name is
Benito Roth.
DOROTHY (KROLL)
NUDELL (Hy), wants to
know who else graduated in
the Northern High class of
1932.
DR. BOB SHAW is a
psychiatrist . . . and wife
Marie is in the choir at
Temple Beth El . . . His
hobby is flying those big
balloons . . . which is how it
all began . . . having a
seven-story-high hot, air
balloon for the shindig
given by 33 couples as a way
of saying "thanks" to Steve
Cooper, running for judge in
the Southfield 46th District
Court.
The 33 couples gave Steve
a thank you party for the
legal work he's done for
them at no charge while
serving on the Beacon
Square Board . . . but it
turned out to be two shin-
digs . . . The rains came, bal-
loon rides were called off,
and half the party stayed at
the Beacon Square Swim
Club outdoor poolside . . .
and others went to the
Cooper home.
About the balloon, never
knew it took a flame to
make it rise . . . and none to
bring it down . . . Makes
some kind of sense though,

since heat rises.
AFTER A FAMILY re-
union in Toronto Aug. 24,
Sam and Yetta Ginsburg
(Central Florists on Dexter
years ago), now living in
California, will come to De-
troit for a get-together with
friends.
They send some news of
ex-Detroiters on the coast
. . . Frances and Max
Winston in Los Angeles be-
came grandparents to a
granddaughter, Jessica
Ellen (parents are Roberta
and Kenny Lloyd) . . . Bon-
nie Straus, daughter of Lee
and Sid Hudson, is on spe-
cial assignment daily for
Channel 2 in Los Angeles.
BACK ON JULY 24,
1964, Sig Beras took the
position of city attorney for
Southfield . . . on a tempor-
ary basis . . . He's still at it
. . . and continuing to do a
fine job . . . Congrats to Sig
on his 16th anniversary at
the post.
CONGRATS . . . to Sam
and Sima Yarsike . . . on
their 25th anniversary.
IN RECENT ITEM
about George Iwanow opti-
cal and hearing aids on
Greenfield and Nine Mile,
couple of his daughters'
names were spelled wrong
. . . Kathy and Deanna .. .
Also left out the names of
Goldie Hendelman, an op-
tometrist for 35 years .. .
and Cleon Rhoads, licensed
to fit hearing aids for 14
years.
IT HAD TO happen
sooner or later . . . the ques-
tion was when . . . since it
takes tremendous facilities
and finan-cial backup .. .
But Condo Care has finally
done it . . . even though both
of these have never been the
problem . . . The biggie was
taking care of this tremen-
dous new endeavor . . . We
mean that now Condo Care
has expanded from con-
dominiums to private resi-
dences also . . . Sounds un-
believable!

Hilton Claims
Israeli Omission
Was Necessity

ATLANTA (JTA) — Hil-
ton International, the giant
hotel chain, claims the
omission of two Hilton
hotels in Israel from its re-
cently published Middle
East edition of "Business
Travelers' Guide," is a
"must for doing business -in
the Arab countries," accord-
ing to the Southern Israel- _
ite, a weekly newspaper
here.
The guide, a 40-page di-
rectory of information about
Mideast countries and the
services available in 10 Hil-
ton hotels in the area does
not include the Jerusalem
Hilton or the Tel Aviv Hil-
ton. Nor does an inside back
cover list of 76 Hilton Inter-
national hotels world-wide
include the Israel hotels,
the newspaper reported.
