called a Zombie Omelette
. . . and delicious.
The omelettes at Lemon
Peel, we learned, have a dis-
tinctive taste because they
are pan-fried until half-
done . . . then finished off in
a broiler.
Don't miss having the
house potatoes . . . hand-
sliced and made with on-
ions.
Could Lemon Peel at
dinner time be as good as
it is late at night? . . . This
I had to find out and went
with three other people
. .. Wife Frieda and Mari-
lyn and Sid Frumkin.
Our waiter was Terry
Antzaklis, one of the best
. . . who we remember from
London Chop House, Yassoo
and a number of other fine
eating places around town
. . . efficient, courteous and
really knows his business.
We sat in the Theater
Room as music from Broad-
way shows softly played
during our dinners . . .
Terry flamed cheese (Sag-
naki) at our tableside .. .
brought us a wonderful
Skordalia (mashed potatoes
with garlic) . . . delicious
sherry wine-sauteed zuc-
chini and sherry wine
sauteed mushrooms . . . and
Greek salad.
Sid says the Saganaki
and Skordalia were the best
he's ever hall (he and Mari-
lyn eat dinner out every
night of the week . . . and
they love Greektown.)
Frieda, Marilyn and
Sid had the baby lamb
chops ... delectable,
juicy and very tender .. .
marinated 24 hours be-
fore being cooked . . . I
had the veal cutlets with ,
Greek dressing that also
proved a wise choice .. .
It seems that everything
now at the Lemon Peel is
a good decision.
Naturally, we all had
those great Lyonnaise
potatoes with onions.
Fran makes the baklava
. . . that's what I had . . . and
Sid chose the rice pudding
Leo makes.
Can it be that since the
demise of Darbys we now
have another place to go
whether it's breakfast,
lunch, dinner, after theater
or cocktails?
Lemon Peel seats 144
. . . 96 in the dining room
and 48 in the lounge
where food is also served
. . . It's a seven-day opera-
tion . the kitchen
open until 1:30 a.m. Mon-
days through Saturdays
. . . and til 10 on Sundays.
Bear in mind that 'this is
not the same Lemon Peel
you may have visited before
. . . The all-new setup is only
about five weeks old . . . and
may now be just the place
you've been waiting for.
SURE WOULD BE nice
if Sneaky Treats in the Far-
rell Shopping Center, 12 1/2
Mile and Southfield, had
some seating . . . Wouldn't
have to be a lot . . . the new
local concept is great and
deserves some table consid-
eration.
