Argentina's Jews Denounce Availability of Nazi Literature

NEW YORK — The re-
cent bombing of two Jewish
schools and the increasing
availability of Nazi litera-
ture have been denounced
by the Argentine Jewish
community, according to
the Anti-Defamation
League of Bnai Brith.
DAIA, the representative

body of the community, is-
sued a public statement ex-
pressing its "condemnation
and alarm."
Rabbi Morton Rosenthal,
director of the ADL's Latin
American Affairs Depart-
ment, reported that a high
explosive bomb caused con-
siderable damage, but no in-

about the rights of Palesti-
nians. The Palestine Sol-
idarity Committee had
Gross arrested for trespas-
sing.
Following Gross' arrest at
the church, Harriet Pilpel,
co-chair of the American
Jewish Congress Commis-
sion on Law and Social Ac-
tion, wrote to Rev. Coffin:
It is shocking when a
respected church, under
the leadership of a minis-
ter who has consistently
opposed bigotry in all
forms, condones acts of
bigotry upon its premises
and supports a criminal
prosecution designed to
reinforce that act of
bigotry."
In his reply, Rev. Coffin
wrote:
"I would feel very badly
indeed if anybody pressed
charges against Tuvya
Gross. I understand from
our security guard that he
was not admitted to a meet-
ing which was billed as an
open meeting . . . Please be
good enough to inform the

the church's position."

ADL Protests
Prayer Bill
at Hatise Hearing

WASHINGTON — The
Anti-Defamation League of
Bnai Brith was among sev-
eral organized religious
groups voicing opposition
Tuesday, at the opening
hearings of a House
Judiciary subcommittee on
a bill that seeks to restore
the "right of voluntary
prayer in public schools."
Meyer Eisenberg, chair-
man of ADL's national law
committee and the league's
representative at the hear-
ings said that the prayer bill
represented "a clear and
present danger to the Con-
stitutional protections af-
forded all Americans."
The bill, which was
passed by the Senate more
than a year ago, would spec-
ifically deny the United
States Supreme Court
jurisdiction to pass on any
state law, ordinance, rule or
regulation relating to vol-
untary prayers in public
schools.

juries, at the ORT Technical
School in Buenos Aires. An-
other bomb was placed at
the J.N. Bialik Central
School, but officials of the
Federal Police were able to
disarm that bomb before de-
tonation.
The DAIA attributed
the incidents, "the first
after many months of
tranquility," to "criminal
forces of hate and racist
violence ... frying to re-
gain the initiative in their
sinister designs for na-

tional disintegration." It
cited the increasing
availability of Nazi pub-
lications on newsstands
as a source of ideological
support for the anti-
Semitic elements.
According to Rosenthal,
one of the Nazi publications
now on sale is "Papeles,"
published by the Integral
Nationalist Aryan Party. A
recent issue of the monthly
magazine carried an article
claiming, "Hitler Was
Right!"
